ACCIDENTS HAPPEN is a wickedly funny and surprisingly moving fable of family, fate and misfortune in American suburbia. The manicured lawns of 1980’s New England imply an order that simply doesn’t exist for the Conway family, headed by razor—tongued Gloria. Youngest son Billy has been a witness to a series of tragic accidents, including one that fractured his whole family. Always the good boy, Billy takes up with the neighbourhood troublemaker in acts of delicious delinquency in a world already spinning out of control. The ensuing collision of guilt, truth and self discovery may be just what his family needs to move on. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN stars Academy Award®—winner Geena Davis as Gloria Conway and introduces Harrison Gilbertson as her teenage son Billy.

This take-no-prisoners family flick is not your average suburban trip.Giles Hardie, Sydney Morning Herald, 06.24.2010
It's as if Carbee and Lancaster were unsure themselves: were they making a bitter-sweet, ironic memoir of adolescence? Or were they making a melodrama? Both tone and pace jerk all over the place...Julie Rigg, MovieTime, ABC Radio National, 06.24.2010
Accidents Happen quite easily commits the menu of sins that have long dogged Australian films: bad direction, unfocused story, thin characterisation, emotional incoherence and almost no idea what type of film it is supposed to be.Jim Schembri, , 06.24.2010
It's left to Davis to rise above the limitations of the material, and she does so valiantly, but the scenes lack the wallop of the intended emotional payoff.Fiona Williams, sbs.com.au, 06.24.2010
